Opening a Credit Account

Using leverage for trading or farming on StackFi starts with opening a Credit Account. To make this process simple, StackFi offers different user interfaces based on your initial goal, such as trading or farming.

While the interfaces may look different, the underlying protocol logic and smart contracts are the same. Each interface is designed to help different user types reach their desired positions more quickly and with fewer steps.

Choosing the Right Interface

Trading Interface (Margin Trading)

If your goal is margin trading, the Trading interface is the best starting point. It is designed to feel familiar to users who have used leveraged trading platforms before.

With this interface, you can:

  • Select the trading pair

  • Choose your leverage level

  • Set slippage and other key parameters

  • Open a leveraged long or short position

Once your position is open, you can further adjust settings such as:

  • Liquidation price

  • Leverage factor

  • Position structure

For more advanced strategies, users can switch to the Extended dApp, which unlocks additional configuration options. This allows combining strategies, such as trading while farming at the same time, enabling more advanced “Leverage 2.0” use cases.

Leverage Farming Interface

If your goal is leveraged yield farming, the Leverage Farming interface offers a streamlined, one-click experience.

This interface allows users to:

  • Open a Credit Account

  • Enter a leveraged farming strategy

  • Deposit and borrow assets in a single transaction using multicall, reducing gas costs

Users can quickly enter popular DeFi strategies across protocols like Curve, Convex, Lido, and Yearn without managing multiple manual steps.

This interface is best suited for users who:

  • Know which strategy they want to farm

  • Prefer simplicity over manual configuration

  • Intend to hold positions rather than actively trade

After opening the position, users can still:

  • Adjust leverage

  • Add or remove debt

  • Change assets

  • Rebalance their strategy

Step-by-Step Flow

Regardless of the interface used, opening a Credit Account follows the same core steps:

  1. Select a Credit Manager Choose a Credit Manager based on the assets and protocols it supports. The Integrations page provides details on which Credit Manager fits your strategy.

  2. Deposit Collateral Select one or more assets to deposit as collateral into your Credit Account.

  3. Set Leverage and Slippage Choose your desired leverage factor and acceptable slippage, then approve the required transactions.

  4. Open the Credit Account Once confirmed, the Credit Account is opened and your initial strategy is executed.

Managing Your Credit Account

After opening a Credit Account, users retain full control over how their capital is deployed.

  • Multiple assets can be deposited as collateral

  • Leverage can be increased or reduced at any time

  • Higher leverage increases capital efficiency but lowers the Health Factor

  • Assets can remain idle as collateral or be swapped into other tokens

Users decide how much risk to take and how their funds are allocated within the Credit Account.
